Which is why the new business model for large tech firms is to buy small startups. There's a reason why Google set out a $10b "warchest" for purchasing small businesses. You lose that innovative spirit when you know you have the security of a large parent company. It's when you're cornered, on your own, depending on yourself for money that when the real ideas start flowing.
